The Post Bulletin in Rochester, Minn., has an opening for a full-time high school sports reporter.

Application information, and a job description can be found here:
    Recruitment

A little bit about us: We're a four-person sports department (or, we will be once we make a hire). This position became available when one of our reporters recently accepted a position with 247Sports, covering the Big Ten Conference. The three of us who are currently in the sports department have all been here for at least 16 years; this will be just the third new hire in our department in my time here (since December of 2004).

The Post Bulletin was purchased by Forum Communications, based in Fargo, N.D., just more than two years ago. Forum has been a great company to work for, allowing us to add new positions to the newsroom and allowing great journalism to drive revenue. There are also ample opportunities for advancement, if you desire. The Post Bulletin produces two print newspapers per week (Tuesday and Saturday), and e-editions the other five days.

As for our sports staff, our focus is on approximately 40 high schools in southeastern Minnesota, though we have two junior hockey teams in the area and a Northwoods League baseball team to cover in the summer. There are occasional opportunities to cover a pro or college event in the Twin Cities, which are 75-90 minutes north.

With high school sports practices set to start in two weeks, we want to fill this spot fairly quickly. We'll accept applications through Friday, August 13.

Any questions, feel free to email me at jfeldman@postbulletin.com

I have/had several friends who worked at this newspaper and they absolutely loved it, and Rochester.

Thank you to everyone who applied for the position; we had a great field of applicants. We're happy to say that former Winona Daily News sports editor Alex VandenHouten has accepted the position and will begin with us on Sept. 13.

If Alex knows what happened at Winona State, he'd better spill.

Seriously, congrats and thanks for the update.
