Immediate opening for sports writer at The Joplin Globe, a morning 7 days a week newspaper in Joplin, Missouri. Nights and weekends. Job requirements include — and not limited to — coverage and feature stories of high school and NCAA Division II college events, work on scoreboard page. Knowledge of In Design is beneficial. Send resumes to Carol Stark, editor, The Joplin Globe (cstark@joplinglobe.com) and Jim Henry, sports editor (jhenry@joplinglobe.com).

if it wouldn't be close to a 50% pay cut I wouldn't mind moving down there. I could be like a modern day Anvil Welch, but probably more like my guy Craig Hull.

What is opening pay? Got to be $27,000 to $30,000 annually.

I am guessing $27,000 would be tops.

That's barely more than I make here, which is hard for me to believe.

Isn't that a CNHI paper and if so, isn't CNHI on perpetual furloughs?

There was a time when I might jump at this.

Too old and broken down now.

Depends on the paper...a couple of places have apparently been let off the hook and no longer do them. LUCKY BASTARDS.
