The Daily Republic, a six-day newspaper in Mitchell, S.D., seeks a full-time sports reporter. Mitchell is a sports-crazed town that includes two high schools, a four-year college, 40 schools in the region and America's best pheasant hunting.

As if that isn't enough to keep us busy, our county is home to two first-round pro sports draft picks in the past decade.

This position is perfect for a seasoned writer or a recent college graduate who wants daily experience. The perfect candidate will understand how to gather and write sports "news," and not just be content to produce fill-in-the-blank game coverage. Candidates absolutely must have an insurable driving record.

Anyone know about this paper? Seems like an O.K. spot.

Two words about this job: Corn Palace.

Mitchell is the home of Mike Miller of Florida Gators and NBA journeyman fame. Quality sports staff for the size of the paper too, which I guess matters more than Mike Miller.

Oh, and Vikings linebacker Chad Greenway is from right down the road in Mount Vernon.

But do they have a Corn Cob king and queen competition each year?
