    This paper seems to have an opening for a sports writer quite often, but I believe it's because it's a place where writers have traditionally gained experience and moved on.

    Yep, it's a 20,000 daily. Good first or second job. As one former colleague put it, after a couple of years you either like it and settle in for the long haul or decide you want to move on.
