Wasn't a job open here a few months ago?

    Description:

The Temple Daily Telegram, a newspaper in Central Texas between Austin and Waco, seeks a talented, motivated sports writer to add to our full-time staff.

The candidate selected will play a vital role in coverage of the 26 high schools and two colleges in the Telegram’s circulation area. We cover Temple, Belton and 24 other high schools plus NJCAA Division I Temple College and the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor, an NCAA Division III school in Belton.

The prospective journalist will have opportunities to write game stories, features, breaking news and columns as well as cover occasional major college sporting events. The ideal candidate must have a strong knowledge of and passion for sports, be organized, creative and self-motivated, and possess the skills to excel under deadline pressure.

Working nights and weekends is required. Although primarily a writing position, this job also will include some page design and copy editing duties. Experience at a daily newspaper is desired, but a recent college graduate with outstanding work examples and strong references will be considered.

Serious, qualified applicants are encouraged to send a résumé (with references), cover letter and seven to 10 relevant work examples to Telegram sports editor Eric Drennan at edrennan@tdtnews.com and edla@tdtnews.com.
