The Sun Sentinel, a South Florida-based media company, is looking to fill a position for sports reporter to be part of our team that covers more than 100 high schools in the highly competitive South Florida market.

Reporter also will assist in coverage of other local sports teams such as the Fort Lauderdale Strikers professional soccer team and local participant sports such as running and swimming.

Reporter also will assist with backup work on pro and college beats as needed.

    Responsibilities:
Reporter will cover games; write breaking news, features, columns and enterprise stories on a wide range of topics; shoot and edit video; contribute to a blog, create and manage content for the web and contribute to and compile rankings, all-star teams and more.

    Qualifications:
We're looking for a versatile, talented reporter who knows how to juggle multiple assignments and can conceive and execute good ideas on deadline. Strong digital skills are expected, including the ability to shoot, edit and appear on video and to assist in management of high schools and local content on our website.

Send cover letter, writing samples and examples of your best digital work to:

No. That one's in Orlando and we'll soon make a hire there. This one is in Fort Lauderdale.

If I'm hired, can I also take the lucrative youth football beat?

Lot of friends at the Sun-Sentinel. High Schools is a very competitive...and dare I say fun (and somewhat stressful) beat in South Florida. Competition in Broward with the Miami Herald and Palm Beach with the Post.

Broward and Palm Beach football are among the most successful in the state. St. Thomas Aquinas is among the best prep football programs nationally. Broward and Palm Beach produce nearly 100 FBS football prospects annually so you'll be watching guys on Friday and eventually tracking them on Saturdays and Sundays.

Basketball, Baseball, Track...there's always a few Broward schools that specialize in at lease one sport.

Is this another job opening or is it the same one that was filled in another thread?

I was wondering having seen this one posted on May 2.

    Thanks.

The promotion of a person to the other job posted created this opening.
