The Valley Journal, a weekly county-wide newspaper in rural northwestern Montana, seeks to fill a reporter/photographer position and invites applications from candidates who enjoy covering local news and sports. The position is full-time and includes reporting for high school sports throughout the county. Passion for writing, photography and sports is essential. Northwest Montana is a rural area rich with seasonal outdoor beauty and wonderful people whose stories are waiting to be told. Coverage area is throughout Lake County, including a large portion of the Flathead Indian Reservation — we live in a beautiful valley that is truly one of the last best places. Excellent writing and photography skills required. Layout in Quark will be part of the job. We’re a small weekly newspaper (7,900 circulation) locally-owned by a core staff that is passionately devoted to quality community journalism. We seek long-term candidates who are committed to the same ideals. Send e-mail letter of interest describing your qualification and passion for community journalism, along with attached resume, three writing samples (Word) and three photo samples (jpeg), to summer@valleyjournal.net Only a narrow list of the top candidates will be contacted for further interview consideration.
