The Paducah Sun has an immediate opening for a sportswriter/photographer. The ideal candidate will have three or more years experience working in a daily newspaper sports department. Versatility is a must. The candidate must be comfortable working as both a sportswriter and a photographer covering high school games and competitions, writing sports features and enterprising sports packages for print and web. Experience with social media and online reporting is a plus. Night and weekend work is expected. The Sun's 17-county coverage area regularly sends teams to state compettions and playoffs, with many having strong winning traditions.

The Sun is the seven-day morning, flagship newspaper of Paxton Media Group LLC, publisher of daily and weekly newspapers in the South and Midwest. Pay is based on experience within constraints of market size. Benefits include 401(k) with company match; life, disability and a choice of health plans; and a 37.5-hour work week. Many advancement opportunities exist within the organization. Paducah, a vibrant community near Kentucky and Barkley lakes, lies along the Ohio and Tennessee rivers and offers ready access to St. Louis, and Memphis and Nashville, Tenn.

Please email one-page resumes, three writing samples and three sample photos to Duke Conover, the Sun's executive editor, at dconover@paducahsun.com. The resume, photos (jpeg format) and writing samples (text format or rtf) must be attached to the email. Please do not forward website URLs or compressed application packages. Please write "Sun Sportswriter" in the subject field of the email. No postal or telephone inquiries, please.
