The Paris Beacon-News, a six-day daily newspaper located in Paris, Ill., a fast-growing, family oriented community in southeast Illinois, is looking for a energetic, organized, proven sports and news reporter to join its newsroom. The ideal candidates must be creative, solid writers; attentive to detail; good page designers using InDesign and Photoshop; and flexible enough to help with Web duties. Experience with photography, video and social networking are a plus. Knowing the people and having connections in Southeast Illinois is also a bonus. There will also be opportunities to write for annual magazines and special sections. The pay is $25,000-28,000, depending on experience, and other benefits — like health insurance — are available. The Paris Beacon-News, located in east-central Illinoisis looking for an energetic, organized and committed individual to fill a full-time sports editor’s position. The candidate will report on high school and area team sports, and will lead a team of freelance sports writers and photographers. Candidates should possess the ability to tell stories in print, online, through social media and with photography. Experience with InDesign and photography a plus. The PBN is a daily (Tuesday-Saturday) publication in Edgar County. Wages will be between $20-$25K based on experience with bonus potential.
