    The Desert Sun in Palm Springs, CA, seeks an experienced multiplatform journalist to join its award-winning sports department. We’re seeking candidates with a proven track record in writing compelling game stories, profiles, enterprise and watchdog work focused on the local high school scene. This position is geared toward preps and feature writing with an emphasis on high school football and soccer. With two professional golf events, as well as the world’s fifth-largest ATP and WTA tennis tournament in our backyard, coverage opportunities abound. We produce 20 special sections a year. This position offers a tremendous opportunity for an experienced writer with an ability to generate your own story ideas. The right candidate must be comfortable in both print and digital platforms and inform our readers online through social media and blogs.

    The Desert Sun is a Gannett daily with a circulation that hits more than 55,000 during the fall and winter months.     Qualifications include:

    College degree and work experience as a reporter

    Strong communications skills

    Excellent writing and reporting skills

    Strong digital skills (blogging, texting, Tweeting, etc.)

    Ability to handle multiple tasks

    Ability to perform in a deadline-oriented environment
