The San Mateo Daily Journal has an opening for a sports reporter with page design experience.

The job’s primary responsibility is reporting on San Mateo County’s high school teams and a few community colleges. Our sports stories are compelling, dynamic and insightful while capturing the games’ action and emotion. There are enterprise opportunities as well.

Reporters take their own photos, collect game stats by phone or email and help with layout, design and social media. Night and weekend work required.

Patience, writing flair, an extremely strong work ethic, speed, flexibility and a good sense of humor are required. Quark experience and intimate knowledge of Associated Press is a must. Spanish fluency is a plus. Bay Area candidates only.

The San Mateo Daily Journal is an award-winning independently owned and operated 23,000-circulation newspaper on the San Francisco Peninsula.
