This is a small daily in southwestern Indiana. The largest nearby city of any size is Evansville, which is about a half hour's drive south. Princeton is a rapidly-growing area with a recently-opened Toyota plant driving job growth. Princeton HS had powerhouse basketball teams both boys and girls. Gibson Southern HS is a very strong program in football and has a powerhouse softball program. Both are 3A schools in a four-class system (football is a different animal, but I believe both are 3A). Wood Memorial HS is the third, in Oakland City. Very small school. Oakland City University is a small private Christian college in that same area. OCU has hosted the National Christian Collegiate Athletic Association championships in the past.

Pete Swanson was the SE here for years and years. Pete was a throwback to the old days, but a good man.

Paxton has a reputation for running very threadbare operations at its smaller papers in Indiana, but that's par for the course for virtually any entry-level community newspaper job these days.

Pete Swanson still contributes as a freelancer. What he knows about sports in the area is a priceless resource for The Daily Clarion.
