The Daily Hampshire Gazette, a 16,000 circulation newspaper serving Hampshire County in western Massachusetts, is seeking a versatile full-time reporter, eager to lead its high school sports coverage online and in print.
Candidates must be motivated to compete in a competitive market and driven to try new things. Qualified candidates must show a willingness to write beyond the box score, a proficiency in multimedia and social media, and a knowledge of AP style.
Experience at a daily newspaper and knowledge of InCopy and InDesign is a plus. Position includes at least one shift with page design and copy editing duties.
Salary is negotiable. Deadline to apply is Oct. 25.
Send resume, 3-5 writing samples as well as 2-3 page designs to Mike Moran, sports editor, 115 Conz Street, Northampton, MA 01060. Email is mmoran@gazettenet.com. Fax: 413-585-5299. No calls please.
The Gazette is owned by Newspapers of New England Inc. and publishes six times a week. The sports department covers 13 high schools, two prep schools and four colleges, including Division I University of Massachusetts.

I interned here in college. Staff is friendly and helped me a lot to get to where I am now. The HS beat writer left to take a job at Masslive/The Springfield Republican. It's a bigger paper.
