North Iowa Media Group, anchored by the Globe Gazette in Mason City, is seeking a talented sports reporter with a keen news sense, and the ability to develop sources and produce enterprise pieces and features. The ideal candidate will understand reader habits and trends, and react to them through a range of storytelling methods. If you can only write game stories, this is not the job for you.

We're looking for an enthusiastic and responsible jorunalist who is able to meet deadlines, brainstorm coverage opportunities and juggle multiple projects. The right candidate will assist in planning coverage for all North Iowa Media Group publications and platforms, including two weekly publications in Osage and Britt/Forest City. Coverage of evening and weekend events will be required. Candidates must have a good driving record and provide their own insured vehicle.

The right candidate must understand and use social media and be skilled in using PC's and laptops, as well as Microsoft Word and Photoshop. Experience with photography is required, and experience videography is desired.

Minimum requirements include the abiilty to write accurate, clear and concise stories; the ability to translate sports statistics and information into copy that is readable; the ability to develop story ideas with little supervision; the news judgment to determine what does or does not make a story; the ability to create content for the Web; and a comfort with using multi-media platforms and programs.
