Sports reporter, Hermiston, OR

The Hermiston Herald is seeking a sports reporter for our twice-weekly community newspaper in Northeast Oregon. Job duties will include coverage of high school and community sports and outdoor activities. We are looking for a creative, energetic writer to produce compelling sports stories and features. Must be able to write game stories quickly on deadline and also post to the web. We want someone with strong writing skills who can write an interesting, accurate story without relying on sports cliches and has great attention to detail. Experience or journalism education required. Experience with photography, Quark and/or Indesign preferred. Full-time position offering health insurance, paid time off and retirement benefits. This is a beautiful ranching and farming community near the Blue Mountains, the Columbia River and offers outstanding hunting, fishing, hiking and other outdoor recreation.
