    Description:

    Do you love sports?

Are you interested in a full-time position covering high school sports in a rapidly growing part of northeast Georgia? Then, let’s talk. The Times is an award-winning newspaper that prints five days each week in Gainesville, Ga., and maintains an active digital presence daily. The Times is seeking an experienced candidate for a staff writer position that will be responsible for providing quality content about our 10 local high schools for our print and online audiences. Journalism experience and a college degree are required.

Writers are required to meet a tight deadline as well as pursue in-depth features that capture the human-interest angle of athletes away from the field. Experience with the full spectrum of social media platforms is encouraged to engage readers. Experience producing podcasts would be a plus. Candidates should be self-driven, deadline oriented and able to work late hours without constant direct supervision. Travel to local, regional and state events is part of the job and candidates should have reliable transportation. A criminal background check is required. No relocation assistance is available. We offer paid vacation, benefits and 401(k) savings.

If you think you've got something to contribute to our team, please apply by submitting your resume, cover letter and writing samples to hr@gainesvilletimes.com.
