    The Uinta County Herald has an immediate opening for a sports editor. Successful candidate must show strong interest in all aspects of high school sports. This position will be covering high school, middle school and community sports. Southwest Wyoming offers an additional wide variety of sports opportunities including rodeo, outdoors and more. Sports writing experience a huge plus! Plus, if you like the outdoors in your free time, you’ll find the area and region offers incredible outdoor adventures, including world-class hunting, fishing, hiking, camping, skiing and much more! Located only one hour from Salt Lake City.

    The successful sports editor candidate must possess strong writing, grammar, spelling and editing skills, as well as excellent communication skills and knowledge of AP style. We’re looking for a team player who loves writing about sports and general news, has strong photography skills, a superior work ethic and a great attitude. Strong Mac computer experience, solid pagination (InDesign) and design skills are desired. While not required, owning your own camera equipment is a huge plus. Must have excellent time management and organizational skills and abilities. Must be serious and have a strong desire to write, package and publish quality sports and news pages each Tuesday and Friday in a competitive small-town market.

    Additional responsibilities may include writing some general news and feature stories, as well as working with our editorial staffs at two smaller weeklies in our newspaper group. Advancement and management opportunities within a topflight newspaper organization are very realistic for employees with a proven track record.

    Solid benefit package includes weekly pay, medical insurance, discount prescription benefit, life insurance, 401 (k) plan, flex- spending account, paid vacations and mileage reimbursement. No Wyoming state income tax a huge plus! This position will be filled as soon as possible.
