The Detroit Free Press is seeking an energetic and hard-working general-assignment reporter to cover professional and college sports by producing high-value content.

The ideal candidate will join our Tigers coverage team, but also will assist with Lions, Red Wings, Pistons or college coverage as needed. The writer will play a vital role within a dynamic sports news-gathering operation in America’s greatest sports town. We are looking for someone who is digitally savvy, raring to make our coverage better and who wants to be part of a winning team, dedicated to producing sports content with impact, excitement and information. The goal is to engage loyal followers more often and more deeply, while also building the overall audience through breaking news, insightful columns, engaging features and enterprise stories that provide context and analysis.
