Eating Ramen two nights a week. Florida is inexpensive when compared with other areas of the country but it is not cheap in many areas. Daytona Beach is one of those areas. They bleed tourists dry.

Cost of living in Daytona Beach is 86% the national average: http://www.bestplaces.net/cost_of_living/city/florida/daytona_beach

If you live on the beach, Daytona is expensive. Go a few miles inland, this is not an expensive place to live.

Daytona Beach certainly doesn't look expensive. It looks like the bins outside a Goodwill Store.

Went there several years ago on a stop in Jacksonville. Was mortified at the nasty, dirty, filfthy beaches. Cannot see how anyone could find this place worthy of tourism dollars, much less a vacation. Looked like people let their dogs take a piss and a shit on the beach and just kept going.

    Will never go back.

Daytona Beach is pretty much the Redneck Riviera of Florida's east coast.

Welcome to Florida, North Myrtle Beach. Y'all talk funny, though.
