Central Connecticut Communications, parent company of The Bristol Press and the New Britain Herald, seeks an energetic, creative, multitalented reporter to join our sports department. The successful candidate will have a strong interest in covering high school and amateur sports, talent in writing game and feature stories, personality pieces and enterprise articles, and work with a great group of editors and reporters to put out what we feel is the state's best local sports section. The right candidate will have a good knowledge of the essential components of a sports news story (our goal is "tight and bright"); and knows the difference between print and web to improve our digital presentation. You will play an important role in the production of two seven-day newspapers in addition to providing top-notch writing for our web products. We're seeking an upbeat writer full of ideas and ambition, who enjoys working on a team to put out a great newspaper that truly serves the community. The position requires evening and weekend work. Polish speakers are encouraged to apply (Spanish, too!).

We're near Hartford, two hours from NYC and 90 minutes from Boston. We cover vibrant communities that offer higher education, an array of arts and entertainment, and industries that range from traditional manufacturing to high-technology health care.

If you are motivated to make a positive impact in your community, send a resume, cover letter and no more than three examples of your work (including web links, facebook posts and tweets) for IMMEDIATE consideration to Executive Sports Editor Brad Carroll at bcarroll@centralctcommunications.com. Please, no phone calls. Please note SPORTS REPORTER/EDITOR in the subject line.

Central Connecticut Communications is an equal-opportunity employer. We don't discriminate on the basis of age, sex, ethnicity, religious background, physical challenges or sexual orientation. and we encourage applications from qualified minority candidates.
