    Job Summary

    This position will be responsible for preparing stories, taking photographs and preparing video and multimedia material for both the print edition and the online edition. Using social media will also be an important component of this position. This position includes game coverage, features and statistics. The ideal candidate will be self-motivated, possess effective writing skills and be familiar with social media. Candidate should also be able to cultivate solid relationships with coaches and other sources. Position will base out of the regional office.


    Job Requirements

    · Writing sports stories for both print and online

    · Interviewing athletes and coaches at local high school and college levels

    · Correction work on print deadlines

    · Photographing and videoing local sporting events

    · Using social media to keep readers informed and involved

    · Posting content to website



    Requirements
    Minimum Requirement

    The successful candidate will have a minimum of 2+ years of experience in the print and internet media industry.



    Technology Skills

    · Proficiency in Microsoft Office or word processing programs.

    · Writing and editing skills and AP Style required.

    · Proficiency in InDesign, Photoshop a plus.

    · Ability to learn other relevant software programs is important.

    Education

    Bachelor's degree or related areas of equivalency

    Benefits
    The fringe benefits include Medical (split between employer and employee), Dental and Vision options (employee paid). There are three (3) company-sponsored benefits to include Short Term Disability, Long Term Disability, and a Term Life Insurance Policy. The company offers pay for these six (6) major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year’s, Memorial Day, Independence Day, and Labor Day). In addition, you accrue 3.33 hour per pay period in the first year of employment (80 hours) and increasing to 5.0 hours per pay period (120 hours) after one year of anniversary of employment. The company has the option of making a discretionary match to the 401K Retirement Plan after year’s end.

    I’m assuming they cover California University in Pennsylvania and it’s archrival, Indiana of Pennsylvania pretty well?
