The Bristol Herald Courier, a 35,000-circulation daily in the heart of NASCAR country, is seeking a passionate journalist to complete our six-person sports staff as a reporter/designer. The Herald Courier primarily covers high school and college athletics in Southwest Virginia and Northeast Tennessee, and this person will help to generate news and feature stories and game coverage. The staffer also will help with our extensive coverage of NASCAR and NHRA events at Bristol Motor Speedway and Bristol Dragway. This staffer also must possess InDesign (or Quark) skills to help with page design at times during the week. Apply online at Mediageneral.com and send resumes and clips to Sports Editor Jim Cnockaert, 320 Morrison Blvd., Bristol, VA 24201 or jcnockaert@bristolnews.com

It was a pretty solid paper that moved people on and up when I was in the MG family. No idea how the cuts have affected anything there.

Since Jim Cnockaert was just convicted on receiving child pornography charges, I foresee some changes in the department.

Not sure Jim will be doing the hiring here, but I could be wrong.

Maybe this place should have a running thread?

Not to get off the topic, but it would seem that Bristol would have to promote a new sports editor or fill another position (I know, I know) with Mr. Cnockaert facing a minimum of five years in prison come December.

This shop isn't in the show on a Roswell or Hungry Horse level, but it's in AA and knocking on the door if not AAA.

I'd like to know how this guy even got hired in Bristol after Bozeman showed him the door. It sure does seem like Bristol didn't even vet him.

I live in Richlands, and even then I'm oblivious to what Cnockaert did. That's crazy. Wonder how this position is going to stand now. The Herald-Courier is an excellent paper, but that's some messed up stuff.
