    Responsible for covering general news, sports, public safety and feature assignments in a professional journalistic manner for print and online media.

    REQUIREMENTS OR SPECIFICATIONS:

    At least one-two years of experience as a sports reporter for a newspaper, advanced computer and multimedia skills

    Must have reliable automobile and smartphone capable of capturing, sending video, photos

    Support company initiatives to grow audience and reader engagement by using social media and personal interaction online and in person

    Must be licensed driver and carry appropriate auto insurance.

    EDUCATION: Bachelor's degree in Journalism or English preferred.

    EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING: Must have some computer, layout and proofreading skills. Ability to coordinate and produce stories, current events and be enterprising while looking for new angles beyond the routine. Should have solid command of AP style, English language and rules of grammar. Must work well with others.

    ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS OF THE POSITION:

    Diligently cover assigned beat, or beats, and other assignments in print and online.

    Meet deadlines and work under pressure with quality and speed during newsgathering duties.

    Be accurate and conform to newspaper style.

    Use a thorough knowledge of current events and the content of the newspaper and apply this knowledge to the job.

    Generate ideas for news and feature coverage in print and online.

    Demonstrate integrity, initiative, integration and innovation in both personal conduct and daily work.

    Perform other tasks as necessary or assigned by supervisors.
