My father was a traveling salesman at various times in the Midwest, the Rocky Mountain states, North Carolina, Virginia and West Virginia. He told that Bluefield, West Virginia was the second least attractive town he visited.

He said that he found Rock Springs, Wyoming worse. But that he had to spend an extra day in Rock Springs because of a snow storm and that prejudiced him.

Pretty sure I applied for a job here getting out of college. Heck, I applied almost everywhere in Va/WVa. Had some college friends from Bluefield. Supposed to have one of the prettiest ballpark settings in minor-league baseball.

Rock Springs is pretty brutal. Luckily the hotel we stayed at for one night there had a great happy hour.
