The Billings Gazette and 406mtsports.com -- Montana’s largest newspaper and the state’s premier provider of sports content -- has a full-time opening for a sports reporter who has an eye for compelling features, thrives in a fast-paced environment and has the savvy to enhance readership of our online content.

A vast eastern and central Montana circulation area with hundreds of untold stories is your canvas. The Gazette is the go-to sports section for an audience that follows more than 150 high schools, two NCAA Division I schools, two small colleges, a short-season minor-league baseball team, world-class rodeo, and much more. In addition, as part of the statewide 406mtsports.com team, your work will be seen on as many as six websites and in five Lee Enterprises newspapers.

Versatility, creativity and high energy are essential. Working with an experienced team of five full-time and two part-time staffers plus a digital sports editor, you’ll have the opportunity to experiment with innovative ways to drive new readership. You’ll also be a key cog as a member of a statewide 406 Sports staff of 16 that’s building a loyal online audience from border to border, and beyond.

Montana’s largest city is rapidly growing and on the doorstep of some of America’s most picturesque country -- a short drive from Yellowstone National Park, world-class trout fishing and a range of outdoor activities.
