The Alleghany News, an award winning weekly newspaper located in the scenic Blue Ridge Mountains of northwestern North Carolina has an opening for a sports reporter. This fulltime position includes covering the various sports for the local high school as well as other community sporting events as necessary. Also some coverage of spot news events and related newspaper activities as needed. Knowledge of digital photography, Photoshop, QuarkXPress and Mac computer experience a plus. Knowledge of AP style helpful. Some night and weekend work required. Residency in Alleghany County will be required. We offer competitive salary and benefits.
