The Lebanon Express, a 2,500 circulation weekly in the heart of Oregon's beautiful Mid-Willamette Valley, has an immediate opening for a sports reporter. The selected individual will work between 30 and 40 hours per week. This reporter will lead our high school sports coverage. Some weekend and evening work is required. In addition to sports stories, this reporter must also be able to cover breaking news, business, features and general assignments. Minimum requirements include experience writing for a newspaper, plus a college degree in journalism or equivalent combination of experience and education. Photography experience and knowledge of public records and public meeting laws is required. Graphics, copy editing, page design and online experience are a plus. Qualified candidates must demonstrate the ability to write clear, concise and compelling stories about our community. We are an equal opportunity employer, offering a competitive starting salary, full benefits package, including medical, dental, vision, life insurance, generous 401k, employee stock purchase and paid time off. The successful candidate will be required to pass a pre-employment drug screen and criminal background check. Please submit cover letter, resume, writing samples and salary requirements to: online, www.lebanon-express.com; mail, Human Resources Department, Mid-Valley Newspapers, PO Box 130, Albany OR 97321.
