    Sports producer, BostonGlobe.com

    The BostonGlobe.com is looking for a nights and weekends Web Producer for sports. This producer plays the critical role of managing BostonGlobe.com’s sports coverage in the evenings, and during games. He or she is a dynamic self-starter who creates original content and works closely with the sports department.

    The producer will help achieve traffic goals, increase user engagement, and build relationships with a variety of key internal stakeholders, including reporters, editors, digital product development, and producers. This position will be based at 135 Morrissey Boulevard in Boston, and reports to the sports editor of BostonGlobe.com.

    Key responsibilities: • Work with the BostonGlobe.com sports editor, sports staff, and senior leadership to meet goals of growing traffic and producing superior journalism • Act as the point person in the department on breaking news during the shift • Execute digital assignments from the BostonGlobe.com sports editor • Work with the graphics, video, photo, and data departments to build multimedia packages • Monitor traffic and drive user-engagement to the section • Establish best digital practices for the department • Distribute news over Globe-branded social media accounts • Maximize SEO traffic to stories • Create and promote innovative new multiplatform storytelling tools, techniques and technologies across the department • Maintain and enforce journalistic best-practices that uphold Globe principles

    Experience and skill: • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience • At least 1-3 years experience in online media or equivalent • Demonstrated knowledge of the Boston sports landscape • Track record in achieving editorial goals and driving growth • Extensive experience with digital news technology • Leadership skills and ability to manage laterally • Ability to work in a rapidly changing, dynamic environment • Motivated, self-starter, independent, results-oriented and professional • Ability to manage multiple projects and to prioritize effectively • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills • Willingness to innovate, explore new ideas and acquire new skills • Drive, determination, attention to detail and commitment to excellence
