The Mail Tribune, an award-winning seven-day daily newspaper in beautiful Southern Oregon, seeks a full-time sports page designer/copy editor to make our section shine. We’re looking for someone to lead our sports desk five nights a week. Must have a deep knowledge of sports and design principles, strong news judgment and be able to create bold, lively sections with good balance, headlines that pop and informative/attractive graphic elements. Must be a courteous team player, work quickly and adeptly on deadline and will be required to update online stories and post regularly to social media.

We’re growing our company under a new owner and are excited about expanding our digital offerings. We cover everything from NAIA college sports to youth and community sports. High school sports are king in our area and we treat them as such.

Shifts will include nights and weekends, but those duties are also shared by other members of the staff.

We offer a competitive benefits package, vacation and sick leave, plus a supportive environment to develop talent.

Experienced designers/copy editors are preferred, but strong entry level candidates will be considered.

Please send cover letter, resume and layout examples to Sports Editor Tim Trower at ttrower@mailtribune.com. Deadline is Monday, July 3.

A great landing spot in a nice spot in our state. Great recreation and weather and a solid paper to join.
