Sports Multi-Media Journalist in job Fairmont, West Virginia

    The Times West Virginian, the seven-time West Virginia Press Association Newspaper of the Year in Fairmont, W.Va., has immediate openings for a full-time multi-media sports journalist.
    This is an opportunity to get in on the ground floor of effective change in a rapidly evolving industry in need of digital-savvy journalists. The Times West Virginian is truly a multimedia news organization, reaching hundreds of thousands of readers on multiple platforms, including the printed product, website, mobile app and social media. The candidates will be responsible for regular coverage of their focus area, as well as breaking news and general assignments. The candidate will also be responsible for producing web-exclusive content, long-term digital packages and work with other reporters on building digital audience and readership on the newspaper's website.
    The candidate should have strong writing, photography and and understand the digital world.
    The candidate should have a degree in media, communications or a related field. Professional experience is preferred but not required.
    Benefits include paid vacation, health and dental insurance and 401(k). Salary is based on experience.
    Candidates should be from North Central West Virginia or willing to relocate.

    I was former SE here. Passionate community which takes its high school sports seriously. Some of the better teams in the state of WV sports are here.

    Bonus points if you're from southern North Central West Virginia.

    Spent a little time in Fairmont a few years ago because my employers at the time had an office there. Can't say that I'd break my neck to go back there, but there's good Italian to be had.
