Sports journalists are lazy

You can't fight the willful ignorance of the public. I learned that by covering city government and taking a lot of calls from people, non-readers, who were surprised as hell when stuff happened like a hike in the water rate, which I wrote plenty of stories about. Did the revelation that they could have known this ahead of time convince them to take the paper? Fuck no. They wanted to call and get me to tell them for free. Fuck those people. Will pay $100 a month for cable TV but won't pay $100 a year for a daily paper or even less for a digital subscription.
