Paul Kimmage, a highly respected cycling reporter and book author who has penned numerous articles for the Sunday Times, in which he calls the UCI, procycling's governing body, corrupt for the way it has protected Lance Armstrong, has drawn the ire of the industry he covers.

After threatening for months, the UCI's leadership -- namely Pat McQuaid -- filed suit in London. But UCI didn't go after the Sunday Times nor Kimmage's other employer, L'Equipe. Instead, they went after Kimmage personally.

And a number of journalists and fans are raising money for his defense.

Let's hope Goodell doesn't get any ideas.

Considering how a lot of U.S. national writers seem to consider themselves advocates for the sports they cover, this is refreshing news.
