    Multimedia Journalist Sports – West Unit

    GateHouse Media/Wicked Local is a multi-media news organization, providing comprehensive in-depth hyper-local news and information through our 160 wickedlocal.comwebsites, magazines and specialty products, and 100 plus well established and trusted weekly and daily newspapers throughout the Eastern Massachusetts market.

    The MetroWest Daily News and The Milford Daily News are seeking a Multimedia Sports Journalist to join our sports editorial team. In this role we are all about digital first and being fast and first when posting sports content.

    The ideal candidate will be passionate about local sports, has a knack for finding interesting stories, and is excited about the opportunity to publish both in print and online. Our coverage goes beyond the game to tell stories about the athletes, their coaches and others in the high schools sports arena. We prize enterprise and in-depth reporting about issues surrounding sports. And we look for innovative ways to tell stories and to increase reader engagement.

    Job Requirements are:

    - Reliable Transportation

    - Sports editor for two weekly papers

    - Staff member on the Daily News sports desk, which includes reporting in the field and helping on the desk.

    - File at least one unique web update per day per community, based on immediate news value and data. (Scores, schedules, game coverage, features, briefs.)

    - Post to at least one newspaper/site’s Facebook page at least twice a day, seven days a week, with the goal of engaging readers with appropriate Facebook posts.

    -Tweet on own personal/professional Twitter account at least twice a day, seven days a week.

    - Arrange for live posting/social media engagement from major playoff/championship games.

    -Develop original content, which may include video, audio and photos.

    - Participate in the weekly Facebook Live sports broadcast.

    - Meet deadlines
