    Director of Sports Information, Central Michigan University, FBS member of the Mid-American Conference, is accepting applications for the Director of Sports Information.

    GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES: Responsible for leading the sports information team within Public Relations and Marketing Department and Athletics including identifying and developing creative strategies to support athletic and university brand identities. Oversees publications, releases, media guides, programs and Web information for all 16 Central Michigan University intercollegiate sports, including computer statistics at all home events, handling postgame press conferences and the dissemination of results to the media. Manages projects, ensures quality and timelines are met, and establishes a collaborative working relationship with coaches, athletes and the Athletics Department to support University brand and marketing initiatives.

    DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Master's degree in journalism, sports management, MBA or MSA; experience in a progressively responsible capacity in an education or sports environment directing integrated marketing activities; experience with video production and distribution and video scoreboard operation; experience in the production of effective online and offline promotional materials, digital and interactive design/media, online communications, and the ability to concept with social media; working knowledge of the Stat Crew, Mac OS, Adobe Creative Suite programs including, InDesign, Photoshop, Flash, Illustrator, Dreamweaver, Fireworks, Photoshop and Illustrator; experience in digital production; experience with administering contracts.

    DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Leads and directs the sports information team in the production of marketing collateral; manages the status on current projects and assigns new projects; leads brainstorming sessions to develop strategic communications programs to support University and Athletic brands; conceptualizes, designs and manages production of promotional materials in traditional print media as well as electronic, multimedia and online media (Web sites, HTML e-mails and other interactive design outlets). Applies brand identity systems and other elements appropriately to create innovative visual solutions that meet university and user needs; leads the process of brand-building through concept development, Web site design, identity design and online marketing campaign development; creates on-brand, on-strategy compelling creative work.

    Requirements
    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor's degree preferably in marketing, communication, public relations, advertising or related field; five years of management experience with at least three years in a leadership role; demonstrated conceptual, innovative and strategic thinking ability; excellent communication skills including ability to define and articulate strategic vision; strong written and oral communication skills; strong organizational, project management and problem-solving skills; ability to plan, establish priorities, and handle multiple tasks and projects; ability to work efficiently under pressure with careful attention to detail; relevant Experience in intercollegiate sports, NCAA compliance, public relations, marketing and publications; strong media relations background with experience in a sports setting, intercollegiate experience preferred; advanced leadership and project management skills with a strong design background; proven experience in a progressively responsible capacity in an education or sports environment; demonstrated commitment to service, support of the academic and athletic missions and continued expansion of the University; budget management experience; must possess the ability to convey a professional image and effectively represent the organization as appropriate in its relationship across campus and with key external stakeholders, as appropriate; team player who is highly motivated, a self-starter and a dedicated professional; ability to perform the essential functions and requirements of the job.

    Damn, Fred's been there forever and between him and his dad, there's been a Stabley has the SID at some school in Michigan since the 1950s.
    And when he worked at the LSJ, he made Earvin Magic...

    Fred has actually been retired for a few years now. Don Helinski is the SID that stepped down.
