I'll wait to comment until I see the page count. They were down to 64 pages a week when they went to twice a month, a few issues into it they were down to about 78 pages every two weeks. Not holding my breath.

SI is getting ready to launch a sportsbook bar and grill and a betting website next year that will partner with a gambling operator.

Let's see how that goes. Ask ESPN how being in the sports grill business worked out. And if the SI name is being attached to an established sports book operation, that's one thing, but launching something new from scratch is by no means a sure moneymaker.

I'm almost certain its just a licensing deal - like those Fox Sports Sportsbars you used to see in airports, heck even Fox Sports Radio is a licensing deal with I Heart Radio.

As I mentioned up topic, look how Wide World of Sports has pivoted from iconic show to an amusement park.

    ^^^From the WaPo story.

I can’t stop laughing at this. Some oblivious recruiter calling people up and addressing every media company as if they’re a spin-off of some Maven site. “Hi, so you work for The Chicago? Is that a content service?”

In a drunken rant, the guy alternately called a Triangle radio reporter hot and ugly. He inquired as to how he might have sexual contact with her. It was a mess. Angry, vile, etc.

I’m guessing Zombie SI will have no trouble finding a new Tar Heel Maven. There are plenty of fanboi pseudo journalists in the area.
