That loophole will be closed one day I would bet.

Says you. It's not one 18 year year old's obligation to do what is best for the NBA. His obligation is to do what is best for him.

It's an argument for adults having the ability to make decisions about their lives and not having two, billion dollar institutions make the choices for them in order to line their own pockets.

And how do you know it would be better?

Not sure how it's better for a 19-year-old kid to practice with and play against inferior competition and not have access to better equipment, facilities and coaching. But if you say so.

Some kids who are immature can be hurt by having more money than they've ever seen. But it makes no sense to think it's better to practice with guys who are far less skilled.

Just so we're clear: The "equipment, facilities and coaching" line is dubious at best. All 3 of those things are fantastic at Duke, UCLA, Kansas, et al.

Have you seen where the KU players live? Do you really not think 87% of the teams in the NBA would hire Bill Self tomrrow?

Trotting out bland free market tropes is boring.

Considering the travel, the practicing and the playing time - college is preferable than the NBA. NBA teams don't practice as often as college teams. And you're not going to get better on the bench.

Yeah I've seen D1 facilities, they are nice. NBA facilities are better. There are a couple of NCAA coaches who would be hired by NBA teams, not enough that every kid should be required to do a certain number of years. Are you going to tell us that Self's practices are so intense that it would be better than going up against NBA players with five-plus years experience.

On the off days you don't have to show up for classes, many of which guys have no interest in.

Kentucky fans will tell you they have no real SEC basketball rivals. Then they go trip on their dicks every February in Knoxville and the white-hot rage bubbles over.

I don't think 87% of teams would hire self. The skill sets for coaches are different.

Letting adults make their own decisions isn't a bland free market trope.

What a load of horseshit. Let's let players who have no desire to be in school risk injury so the likes of Alma can enjoy college basketball.
