One gal I worked with at a paper a long time ago agreed to be a football picker in the paper. All of the guys in the community and at the paper who did the picks, usually followed some kind of football reasoning for the picks each week.

The gal usually picked teams based on nicknames, mascots, uniforms and names of players rather than win-loss records or other agate.

After the season, she was tops among all pickers with a 79 percent accuracy rating. The next nearest picker was myself, who posted a 53 percent record on the season.

That's when I quit doing picks forever.
