    Small daily newspaper in beautiful Mendocino County, California needs a sports editor/page editor who can maintain excellence in prep sports coverage while helping transform our sports desk into an Internet powerhouse. Should have Quark XPress (or equivalent) skills, copy editing and writing skills. Recent grads welcome if skills are there. We are looking to make sports key to our Web presence so be ready to make audio and video part of your life.     This job is a black hole. It's a poorly run paper and you will NEVER EVER travel to a game even if it is just an hour away. Also, the Editor-In-Chief reads the sports section MAYBE once a month and, if that's not enough, she hates sports. In fact, when the local college tried to hire a full-time football coach like everyone else in the California J.C. system in 1993 she wrote a series of editorials trying to get the whole thing shut down. Oh, and you will also have to design the front page plus the sports for Monday editions. And take your own photos. And get paid dogshit. I have heard the last three sports editors at this paper have left because it is an UNWORKABLE POSITION. It will eat you alive. Avoid this job like the plague.

    But yes, it is a very pretty part of the country.
