The Blade is seeking a Sports Editor to oversee digital, social media, and print content. The Blade is a Pulitzer-Prize winning newspaper in a medium-sized market (Toledo, OH).

The ideal candidate must be savvy with social media and digital content, as well as oversee a daily and Sunday printed sports section. We want someone who can plan, focus less on games and more on people, and who can lead a team of eight writers, coordinate with stringers, and work with the assistant sports editors, paginators and copy editors on our universal copy desk.

We cover Ohio State, Michigan, the University of Toledo, and Bowling Green State University football, major college basketball games and tournaments for the Big Ten and MAC, the Toledo Walleye and the Toledo Mud Hens. Tigers, Indians, Browns, Lions and Red Wings games are covered occasionally, and during playoffs.

The salary for this management position falls between $60,000 and $70,000, depending on experience. We are an Equal Opportunity Employer with a solid benefits package. Interested candidates should send a cover letter and resume to Assistant Managing Editor Luann Sharp at luannsharp@theblade.com by Sept. 15 for consideration.

Last I heard, there weren't any assistant sports editors.
