Wonder what the deal is. I am trying to remember if I did apply for a job months back. I guess I better check my email archives.

    Bump.

PD Pipeline hears this position has been filled by someone in-state.

The name I'm hearing is surprising, and I say that only because of length-of-service at his or her current shop.

I've heard a name and I'm not surprised, given the deteriorating situation in that person's current shop.

Mark Edwards of Decatur confirmed on Facebook today that he's taken the Anniston job.

I do not know if that opens an Alabama beat writer's job in the Shelton newspaper empire.

Let's hope so. Pack reporting opportunities like his don't just grow on trees.

In a related note, Bran Strickland is leaving Anniston for the Sports Business Journal in Charlotte (which is why they have the money to hire Mark). Bran was technically AME for Sports & Features, but had been running the sports department for several months.
