    Description:
The Mountain Press, a six-day a week newspaper in Sevierville, Tennessee, seeks an ambitious sports editor to cover sports in Sevier County, primarily the area's five local public high schools and one private school.

Prep sports are the department's primary focus, but community sports are also covered. Wire copy is used for state and national sports coverage.

The sports department is responsible for its own photos, so photography skills are necessary. Equipment is provided.

The sports editor will manage and maintain a pool of stringers to assist with fall football coverage and ocassional basketball coverage.

Candidates must be able to communicate effectively with co-workers, coaches and the public. The ability to communicate sincere interest in the reader and commitment to customer service are vital to the position.

The job requires night and weekend work.

A bachelor's degree in journalism or a related field, or equivalent professional experience, is preferred. The ability to operate a vehicle is required.

Interested candidates should email editor Jason Davis (jdavis@themountainpress.com). Please include a resume and samples of your work.
