Dynamic, growing community paper seeks motivated sports editor
A weekly paper seeks a responsible sports editor to take the helm of its sports section covering Rockdale County/Conyers - a bustling metro-Atlanta community with a population of more than 80,000.
Here, you’ll have the chance to create your own traditions and make your mark covering the county’s sports life as you see fit. The county boasts three Region 8 AAAA high schools and active youth sports organizations and recreation department. Rockdale/Conyers sports consists of Heritage, Rockdale and Salem High Schools, as well as noted youth organizations (RYSA), Legion teams and organized community activity centers. The prep sports in the area are second to none, including perpetual state playoff schools in football, basketball, baseball and volleyball and a litany of All-Region 8 individual performers.
Applicants with solid sports writing experience and layout experience preferred. Fluency in InDesign required, as one of your duties will be to lay out the sports pages. Covering non-sports topics will also be a small part of your responsibilities. This position is full time.
