    JournalismJobs.com - Job Listing - Sports Editor

The Messenger-Inquirer, a seven-day newspaper in Owensboro, KY, has an immediate opening for an editor to lead our sports department. We're looking for someone with the ability to lead and motivate three reporters, as well produce engaging content. Duties include scheduling, front-end and line editing, coaching reporters and writing game stories/features. There are no pagination/design responsibilities, as our on-site design desk handles those.

We cover nine local high schools on the prep scene, as well as the University of Kentucky, Western Kentucky University, Brescia University and Kentucky Wesleyan College. We travel to Lexington for all home UK football and basketball games, as well as to any bowl game in football and all postseason basketball games. We also cover many (but not all) home WKU games in Bowling Green.

The ideal candidate will have at least three years experience in journalism, with prior managerial experience a major plus. Please send resume, cover letter, writing samples and any salary requirements to Executive Editor Matt Francis at mfrancis@messenger-inquirer.com.
