If you’re an experienced reporter who understands that sports is more than an advances and gamers, we want to talk to you.

We’re the Northfield News, an award-winning, 5,000 circulation twice weekly publication a half-hour south of the Twin Cities on I-35 and we’re looking for a top-notch sports editor.

Northfield takes its sports seriously, but it embraces far more than traditional athletics. We want someone who can write a great narrative on Friday night’s Raiders football game and then turn around and give readers a strong feature on the local youth hockey club or an enterprising look at a local booster club’s finances from its 990s. We want the complete package: someone who leads with his or her writing, social media, photography and multimedia experience.

Southernminn Media LLC, is a family-owned cluster of 16 publications, 11 community web sites and regional magazines. All are aggressive, watchdog-oriented products with newsrooms full of talent. Benefits include health care insurance, vacation and 401k.

If you’re up to the challenge — and all the rewards that come with it as a small-town sports editor — send a letter outlining your vision of the perfect sports desk, resume, and five writing and design clips to Managing Editor Jerry Smith, Northfield News, 115 Fifth St. W., Northfield, MN 55057, or via e-mail to jcsmith@northfieldnews.com. No phone calls, please. Northfield News is an equal opportunity employer.
