The McMinnville News-Register, a high-quality, family-owned twice-weekly, seeks a sports editor to assist with and supervise coverage of eight local high schools and Linfield College. McMinnville is situated 35 miles south of Portland in Oregon’s scenic Willamette Valley, which is flanked by the Pacific Ocean on the west and Cascade Mountains on the east. We are looking for an experienced, sports-oriented journalist adept in a variety of skills, including feature writing, game coverage, page layout, coverage planning, and supervision of a half-time colleague. Photography and video skills would be a bonus. The position is full-time, so it qualifies for the usual array of benefits. Applicants are asked to submit a resume, a selection of representative clips, a set of references and a cover letter to Steve Bagwell, Managing Editor, News-Register, P.O. Box 727, McMinnville, OR 97128 -- or e-mail same to sbagwell@newsregister.com.

My bad, Rosenberg went to Linfield, not McMinnville.

This is a nice little paper. The length of some of the newsroom stays tells you all you need to know (most papers go through oodles of turnover -- not this one).

Nice little town, far enough from Portland to leave it behind, but close enough for a day trip.

ME Steve Bagwell is a great guy, too.
