Given the hours and salary in this industry, a Super Wal-Mart comes in mighty handy!

Rick Alvord here ... I am done with newspapers after 27 years (hasn't been good for my health) and will be going back to school (HOLY CRAP!) to finish up my teaching degree. TDN SE is a good job with plenty of new expectations, including implementing Smart Phones into coverage and developing a web app. Very undefined, however. I was one of the last family-owned holdovers from late 1990s and was paid $47,400 for this job. New person won't make anywhere near that. Probably $12,000 less. New managing editor hasn't been hired yet. Good luck!!!!!

Congrats to Ben. To say it's well-deserved is an understatement.
