    I'd heard a name attached to this situation that literally made me raise my eyebrows. Will be interesting to see if that's true.

    Did this guy used to work in Wisconsin and Rapid City?

    The job went to Chris Whitaker, who's been the sports editor in Greenville, Miss., for several years. Chris is a former Clarion-Ledger writer, so he knows the ins and outs of South Congress Street. He's well-suited to the planning editor job and I expect him to do well.

    Also, the job that has been filled is the "planning editor" position. There is no traditional "sports editor" position. The Planning Editor collaborates with the high school and colleges reporters/editors and essentially figures out what's going where on the page and web site.

    No, it was a real APSE swinging d_ck from elsewhere. But I'm pretty sure that didn't work out.

    The guy is from Greenville, Ms. He's a good hire and a really good guy.
