Daily News-Record, a six-day daily in Virginia’s Shenandoah Valley, seeks a sports editor.

The successful candidate will have strong planning, editing, writing and design skills, and will maintain and enhance this newspaper's outstanding coverage of high schools, colleges and recreational sports.

DN-R covers five high schools and three colleges, including Division I James Madison University.

Our coverage goes far beyond game stories. Our sports department routinely breaks news and publishes strong news features about the area's athletes and the coaches and administrators who lead them.

Daily duties include planning coverage, choosing wire stories, designing pages, editing copy, and writing a weekly column. Nights and some weekend work is required.

The successful candidate will have a minimum of two years supervisory experience, as well as an ability to enhance our coverage using social media.

Send resume, clips, and salary requirements to kirkwood@dnronline.com: R. Cort Kirkwood, Managing Editor, Daily News-Record, 231 S. Liberty St., Harrisonburg, Va. 22801
