Sports Editor The Index-Journal, a family owned 14,000-circulation daily in Greenwood, S.C., is looking for a sports editor who will spice up the section -- with a kick! Seeking someone who understands the human-interest aspect of sports and strives to assign stories that appeal to a broad readership, not just hardcore fans who comb agate pages. If you can design highly appealing pages, love getting e-mails from proud moms and dads of athletes who are in the paper and get pumped up when you see someone reading your stories, we want to talk with you. Candidate should have strong skills in contemporary design programs, such as QuarkXpress or InDesign. We now use InDesign, but Quark users can easily make the switch. Your staff will include two full-timers, a part-timer and correspondents. A journalism degree is required, and we'll want applicants to have a strong grasp on AP style and editing. Send cover letter, resume and samples to: Greg Deal, Managing Editor The Index-Journal P.O. Box 1018 Greenwood, S.C. 29648 Email: gdeal@indexjournal.com
    Salary: $25,000 to $30,000
