Do the math. They came in 08. You might as well say this is 10. You were wrong about the EE not having a sports background and now you're wrong about his tenure, give or take a few months.
Look, the skinny is this: There is a job out there and it needs to be filled. No it's not the best job for the money but there are definitely a helluva lot worse jobs and places to live. The city is improving and has a few good points. There are a few restaurants, a lively entertainment district, casinos and proximity to other places.

OK, Drip, first off, I was not wrong about the current EE's sports background; I never addressed it other than asking a question, albeit a sarcastic one.

Secondly, I'll do the math and add names. Former EE Ross Reily and former SE Troy Treasure both departed in October of 2008. That's 14 months ago, or 15 depending upon how one looks at it. But it is not two years.

You didn't address it because you didn't know Luitt.
Ross Reily and Troy Treasure don't have anything to do with the current opening.
Again, this can be a good opportunity for someone.

    Pissing match over yet?

I think we should all be happy that a job is open for hiring and not frozen.

Never was a pissing match between Liut and me. ALL I have been saying is that it's a great opportunity for someone.

I worked at the DDT from 1997 to 1999, serving under 30-year editor Mitch Ariff prior to his death from cancer.
He was a cool guy and we loved to hit the boats together and play some blackjack.
Casinos numbered three at last count in Greenville.
'Ol Mitch was good friends with another Mississippi Delta product, Archie Manning, and he'd of been damned proud of what Peyton and Eli have done.
Arch used to come every year (and still might) with other celebs for the Brent Memorial Golf Tourney.
And Mitch loved the Saints most of all. He'd sure be exceited about them over the last four years and currently.

This job requires lots of work, covering about 10-15 public schools and about 5 privates (led by Washington School).
College trips on weekends required a pay-up-front system, with reimbursement at the end of each month or maybe twice monthly.
I was in college pressboxes every weekend I wanted to be, and I'm not talking about Valley or DSU.
MSU and Ole Miss baseball/basketball successes warranted coverage and the paper always allowed it.
College football, too, we covered. It just required hurrying up to campus and hurrying back.
    The Monday paper always loomed.
A candidate for this job will hope for a qualified second person who can lay out and meet deadline while the SE is away.
We developed a good stringer network, too, that stretched from Mound Bayou/Shelby down to Hollandale/Arcola, and east-west from Rosedale to Itta Bena.
(Hopefully they've given up trying to cover the two Arkansas schools except for playoffs and call-ins)

Damn good layout of the situation and as I've said earlier, it's an opportunity.

Except that it's from 10 years ago. There is no No. 2 position anymore.

It's an excellent opportunity for someone willing to be chewed up and spit out.

Liut, you have any idea where Troy Treasure ended up? I got to know him fairly well when he was on the Coast in radio, of all things. Good guy. All I know is that he was there at the DDT, then he wasn't.
